The Six Coffee Drinks to Keep You Warm this Winter

The Best Winter Coffee Drinks

There are a lot of great beverages that people like to enjoy during the cold, winter months. Few are more popular than coffee or the espresso-based drinks that are served at coffee shops around the country and around the world. Whether someone prefers a peppermint white chocolate mocha or a straight-up espresso shot, there are tons of coffee drinks that people can enjoy this holiday season.

Coffee is great during the summer, but the cold of winter makes drinking coffee even easier than usual. Food and Wine wrote in early 2018 that Americans are drinking more coffee than ever before. That rate only increases during winter and the holidays. With people everywhere flocking to the local coffee shop, it's time to go over what to order at a coffee shop this time of year.

The Top Winter Coffee Beverages

Peppermint Mocha

The peppermint mocha becomes one of the most popular orders at coffee shops as soon as December rolls around. There’s just something about peppermint that gets coffee drinkers in the mood for Christmas. Whether one prefers white chocolate or regular mocha, this is one of the best latte choices for those that enjoy something a little sweet in their coffee.

Gingerbread Latte

Gingerbread is one of the most common cookies eaten during the holiday season, and it’s also one of the best coffee beverages. When added to a latte, gingerbread flavor adds a subtle undertone that goes perfect with the cold of winter.

Marshmallow Latte

This is a delightful drink that is made at certain coffee shops during the holidays. Some shops even have a flame on-hand to "toast" the marshmallows that are placed on top of the latte at the end. The aroma alone makes this one of the top lattes this time of year.

Eggnog Latte

Not everyone likes eggnog. Some cannot wait for Christmas to roll around so that they can have a glass, while others cannot it. For those that do enjoy the holiday beverage, one of the most exciting coffee beverages this time of year is the espresso-based eggnog drink.

Log Cabin Latte

This is one of the least-known latte drinks, but there are coffee shops that serve this delightful holiday drink. If you have never had maple syrup in your coffee, this is a concoction you have got to try. A log cabin latte is mixture of espresso, cinnamon, a teaspoon of maple syrup, and a teaspoon of butter. It is one of the most unique holiday drinks found at a coffee shop.

“Drip” Coffee

There are lots of methods for brewing regular black coffee. A Chemex makes a delicious cup of coffee, so does a French press. Many coffee shops serve coffee brewed from these manual-brewers. There’s also nothing wrong with a regular brewer that makes a traditional cup of black coffee. One can take it with cream and sugar or plain and black, but there’s something magical about a cup of plain coffee.

No matter what coffee drink someone prefers, coffee drinkers everywhere can agree that the best time of the year for our favorite drink is during the holidays and the cold months of the year! Take these suggestions with you the next time you visit the local coffee shop.
