How to Make an Aeropress

The Aeropress is a manual coffee brewing device that uses air pressure to extract a rich and flavorful coffee. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to make an Aeropress:

  1. Heat the water: Boil water and let it cool for about a minute until it reaches 175°F. This will prevent the coffee from becoming too bitter.

  2. Grind the coffee beans: Measure out 16 to 18 grams of coffee beans and grind them to a medium-fine consistency.

  3. Assemble the Aeropress: Put the Aeropress together by screwing the brewing chamber onto the bottom of the plunger.

  4. Wet the coffee filter: Wet the paper filter in the filter cap to remove any papery taste.

  5. Add coffee: Put the ground coffee into the brewing chamber and level it off.

  6. Add hot water: Pour the hot water over the coffee, making sure to wet all of it. Stir for about 10 seconds.

  7. Plunge the Aeropress: Wait for about a minute for the coffee to bloom. Then, place the Aeropress on top of a mug and start plunging. The pressure should take about 20 to 30 seconds to push all the coffee through the filter and into the mug.

  8. Enjoy: The coffee should be smooth, rich, and flavorful. Add sugar or milk if desired, and enjoy!

The Aeropress is a versatile brewing device and can be used to make a wide variety of coffee styles, from espresso-like shots to smooth and rich pour-over-style coffee. Experiment with different grind sizes, water temperatures, and brewing times to find the perfect cup for you.
